Designed and built by Herreshoff Manufacturing Co. in 1926, AIDA is a 33' centerboard yawl. Both interior and exterior were fully restored, sensitive to Herreshoff techniques, restoring the boat as much as possible to "as built" condition. Refinished spars, a new diesel, and new sails were also part of the first major refurbishment of the boat since launch. |

D. N. Hylan & Associates specializes in the construction, restoration and design of wooden boats. Started in 1998 by Doug Hylan, it is located on the Benjamin River in Brooklin, Maine, in the heart of some of the world's finest cruising waters. Our building shop is fully equipped to handle boats up to 65 feet. Most of our crew are experienced boatmen -- we know what features
make sense on the water. New work can be started from the ground up with our design/build capabilities. Alternatively, we can modify an existing design, or build from any other designer's work. Our restoration work has included the workboat to yacht restoration of GRAYLING, and more recently, the restoration of the 1926 Herreshoff yawl AIDA. Much of our work includes extensive research into the original design and construction techniques, and historically sensitive reconstruction. |
