Appreciate These Beauties & More

Black Watch (originally Edlu II) was drawn by Olin Stephens and built by Nevins in 1938. During WWII she actually saw action against a German U- boat. After a complete restoration 2005-6 by Pilot's Point Marina, she won first overall in the NYYC/MOY Classic Yacht Series. This extremely fast yawl will be on the race course and available for charter out of Newport this summer. The Black Watch Partnership and Brewer Pilots Point Marina will be exhibiting the boat jointly.

Aphrodite was completely restored by Brooklin Boat Yard using the original 1937 boat as a template. Reconstruction began with the replacement of the original backbone, stem, floors and the reframing of the intricate curves of her signature torpedo stern. The hull was then completely re-planked, a new deck and interior accommodations reconstructed, and the distinctive cabin and superstructure crafted. The beautiful results are shown in the photo in the masthead above.

Linda Norton paintingsInspired by the beauty of nature and the constantly changing weather of Penobscot Bay on the Maine coast, Linda Norton paints what she sees and feels as well as her childhood memories of Camden. Her traditional realism is a unique way of capturing the “moments in time” that inspire her art. She is the featured artist on the cover of this summer”s Sea History magazine, the publication of the National Maritime Historical Society. Original artwork as well as prints will be available for purchase at the show.
